Apple Will Boost iTunes Song Samples to 60 Sec
Post published on 31st August 2010
According to CNET, Apple this week is expected to double the length of free song samples within the iTunes Store, from 30 seconds to 60 seconds.
Steve Jobs is expected to announce on Wednesday at Apple’s annual September media event which has traditionally focused on iPods and music devices. Currently, iTunes song samples are limited to 30 seconds. While after the adjustment, the sample time will be doubled and perhaps as long as 90 seconds.
As for the rumor that Apple will launch a cloud-based music service, Apple still hasn’t obtained the licenses the major music labels would require iTunes to acquire to allow users to store their music libraries on the company’s servers and then access them from Web-enabled devices. If Apple were to decide that it wouldn’t need new licensing, it could bring the cloud-based service option back into the realm of possibility.
